My name is Youjia Wang. I got my bachelor degree at the College of Chemistry, Peking University, and now I am currently a PhD candidate here in the Department of Chemical Biology.
(This is me.)
Besides doing experiments, I have a great passion for dancing. I love the feeling of dancing joyfully with a group of people, so I join the Ballroom Dance Association and the Peking University Dance Troupe, where I study Latin dance and Chinese dance respectively.

I spend a lot of time practicing basic skills, rehearsing for shows, and participating in dancing competitions. At first, I love the time when I practice in classroom. In the few minutes when the music starts, we can transform into a group of carefree fairies. In the dance studio, the trivial matters of life and the frustrations in experiments will all be left behind, leaving only the intoxicating melody and dance postures.

During the six years in Peking University, I have participated in nearly fifty shows and competitions. Dancing allows me to relax both physically and mentally and also helps me keep fit. When I participating in performances and competitions, I become more confident, as I would wear beautiful costumes and apply shiny makeup. When I rehearsing for shows, sometimes I would imagine that I am cosplay another role, such as a rural girl harvesting the wheat; a valuable diamond shining her dazzling light; even a snake hiding from a smart hunter… These imaginations are so addictive that I (and the friends dancing together) forget the pressure from my study and lab. Instead, you can see vigorous bodies and soaring souls on the stage.

Amidst the relatively dull and silent life of doing experiments, dancing serves as a wonderful spice in my life. I would like to express my gratitude for the company of dancing.Dancing is joy, dancing is beauty, dancing is a way to relieve stress, and it is the very meaning itself.
